More than 400 blogs have been identified as regional in nature, either operated by regional bloggers or concerned with regional topics. News feeds from these blogs are fed into Google Reader and monitored. Those blogs that have a specific topic have been labeled. Content from labeled blogs flows into the topic without intervention. Those topics are considered "Live." Live topics include:

Business
Citylife (Sacramento midtown)
Crime (includes SacPD blog)
Food
Health
Media
Politics
2008 campaign
Religion
Sports (Kings, River Cats)
Schools
Science and all environmental talk
Yolo County sites
Fedgov
Stategov
Localgov

Several blogs are in more than one category.

Those blogs that don't have a particular focus appear Live under the General category.

At least once a day, the blogs are reviewed and, where appropriate, sorted into additional topic categories. The status of the "Last manual update..." is displayed below the category buttons.

A word of caution: No effort is made to limit the content of the Live blog feeds. What the bloggers post is what you get. If occasional profanity-filled rants offend you, stay away from the General feed.
